Lifting Gear Hire provides lifting equipment to Local 597 for their apprenticeship program so the students may learn a hands-on demonstration of how to properly lift or hoist a load. 

Instrumental in the induction of the pipe industry, Chicago Pipe Fitters Local 597 offers a four-year UA apprenticeship program to pipe-fitters, welders and HVAC service technicians in order to get them prepared for their future in the industry. On April 14th, 2015, Local Union 597 held their annual program in Mokena, IL and the classes were led by Local 597 representatives, Mark Duewerth and Mike Galfano.

The purpose of this particular rigging class is to educate apprentice pipe-fitters on how to properly drift a load into position with certified rigging equipment.

Part of what makes the course informative and necessary to any apprentice in the industry is the use of real time rigging equipment in class, some of which is provided by Lifting Gear Hire.

Among the tools used in these courses that can be seen in the photographs are shackles, 1 ton – 2 ton Hand Chain Hoists (with various heights of lift), beam clamps, and nylon slings.
