LGH Hosts Lift & Move Career Fair for Rigging Industry

LGH Hosts Lift & Move USA Career Fair at Bridgeview Headquarters

On May 3, 2017, LGH’s 100,000-square-foot warehouse and facility in Bridgeview, Illinois, hosted the triannual Lift & Move USA career fair — an educational event dedicated to inspiring the next generation of crane, rigging, and specialized transportation professionals.

The event provided high school and college students, industry veterans, and educators a unique opportunity to meet recruiters, gain hands-on experience, and learn about career paths in lifting and heavy transport. LGH was the second of four companies to host Lift & Move in 2017, joining past hosts such as ALL Crane Rental of Florida, Bragg Companies, and Buckner Companies.

Learning Through Hands-On Demonstration

The event was organized into multiple interactive stations, each highlighting a different aspect of the industry — from rigging and safety to engineering and advanced simulation.

At the Gantry & Rigging Station, Local 136 Riggers demonstrated how to lift and move a replica Batmobile using hydraulic gantries and air skates — the same team that once relocated the U-404 submarine for Chicago’s Museum of Science and Industry.

The Engineering & CAD Station featured Dearborn Companies, showcasing 3D imaging and ground-penetrating radar technology used in planning safe lifts and construction projects.

At the Equipment Inspection Station, LGH mechanics demonstrated the inspection, certification, and safety testing process that ensures all lifting gear meets or exceeds ANSI and ASME standards.

Other stations highlighted welding, crane operation, transportation logistics, and virtual reality crane simulators provided by Manitowoc, ITI, and Local 1 Ironworkers — giving participants a realistic view of the skills and technology shaping the future of the industry.

Inspiring the Next Generation of Lifting Professionals

Lift & Move 2017 reinforced LGH’s ongoing mission to promote education, safety, and innovation across the lifting industry. By partnering with industry leaders, trade unions, and educators, LGH helped demonstrate the wide range of opportunities available in crane operation, rigging, engineering, maintenance, and sales.
