LGH has acquired the Aberdeen-based hire division of JD Neuhaus (JDN) Ltd., a manufacturer of hoists and crane systems designed for extreme environments.

JDN, headquartered in Germany, will retain its other U.K. divisions, including sales and repair, and will remain a key LGH supplier. The transaction value was not disclosed.

The acquisition comes less than a year after LGH’s re-launch in the U.K. following a 10-year sabbatical and significantly enhances the company’s fleet of JDN air-operated hoists. LGH will now be able to offer hoisting capacities up to 100 tons, along with a full range of compatible accessories.

The Dyce facility will become LGH’s third U.K. site, joining locations in Atherton, Manchester, and Rainham, London. The purchase includes four JDN employees,

Colin Naylor, Managing Director of LGH, said, “This acquisition will strengthen and deepen our product portfolio, especially in the hoisting category. Our relationship with JDN as a supply partner spans more than three decades, and their equipment and service have always been excellent. This acquisition aligns with our growth strategy, and we’re excited to welcome our new team members in Aberdeen while offering customers an expanded range of high-quality, complementary lifting solutions.”

The acquisition, effective September 19, 2017, supports LGH’s long-term goals to establish a strong presence in Scotland and expand its product portfolio. The addition doubles LGH’s top air hoist capacity to 100 tons and greatly increases the number of available units from 1 to 60 tons. This move solidifies LGH’s position as the largest provider of air-operated hoists in Europe—and potentially the world. A wide variety of motors and air trolleys will also be available across the full capacity range.

“JDN’s mantra, ‘engineered for extremes,’ reflects the demanding industries that rely on these hoists,” added Naylor. “This acquisition allows LGH to represent one of the most durable and reliable product lines in the lifting industry, further expanding our specialist equipment range.”

Ian Parkinson, Group Chairman of LGH, commented, “JDN’s relationship with LGH goes back decades, which made this deal both natural and mutually beneficial. For LGH, it reinforces our commitment to expanding our rental fleet and maintaining our position as the leading provider of lifting equipment rentals across the Western Hemisphere. Aberdeen becomes our third U.K. location, ninth in Europe, and 30th worldwide.”
